Quickly Rename a Series of Files

If you have a number of photographs imported from your digital camera, it can be a very time consuming job to rename them all to a specific naming pattern (holiday1.jpg, holiday2.jpg etc). Fortunately Windows has a feature that allows a number of files to be renamed following a specific naming convention, meaning that you can rename hundreds of files in minutes. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Open My Computer and browse to the folder containing the files.
2. Select all of the files you want to rename (hint: you can select multiple files by holding down the [Ctrl] key).
3. Click File > Rename, enter a base name for the files and press [Enter]. The files will be renamed following your naming convention.
