Restrict the hours users can use your PC with Windows XP
A child or grandchild who is constantly on your PC while they should be doing their homework is a recipe for family arguments and strife. Fortunately Windows XP provides a handy technical solution, which allows you to limit the amount of time a user can stay logged on to your PC. In order for this to work, you’ll need to create a user account for each user. Using the following steps, you can set what times of day the user is allowed to be logged in:
1. Press [Windows Key] + [R], type CMD and press [Enter].
2. At the command prompt type a command simiar to the following example: net user david /time:M-F,15:00-17:00 and press [Enter]. This would allow the user david to log on between 3pm and 5pm on Monday to Friday.
You can see the full list of options for the net user command by following the steps below:
1. Click Start > Help and Support.
2. In the search box type logon hours and press [Enter].
3. Click on the net user link in the search results.
